Three kinds of housing, three pest pictures
New construction (2000 to 2019)
About two in five Brookhaven homes are this recent. UGA's sealing advice applies at any age: seal cracks, gaps and entryways, and use door sweeps, window screens and screening on vents.
Mid-century houses (1950s and 1960s)
4,525 homes were built in these two decades. UGA lists crawlspaces, attics and wall voids as common harborage inside a structure and calls persistent moisture the most important condition for many infestations.
Apartments and condos
EPA says cockroaches, mice, rats and bed bugs can be particularly troublesome in multi-family housing and that effective IPM there needs all residents to cooperate.
These are general notes drawn from UGA and EPA guidance, not findings about any building we have worked on.
Lakes, creeks and parks
Brookhaven has water close to many streets. Wikipedia lists Murphey Candler Park, 135 acres with a county-owned lake, along with Silver Lake, the Nancy Creek PATH trail and the Peachtree Creek Greenway. CDC says mosquitoes lay eggs in or near water and advises emptying and scrubbing, turning over, covering or throwing out water-holding items once a week, including birdbaths, buckets and flowerpot saucers. That weekly habit works on any lot, and Mosquito Control in Atlanta covers the rest.

Businesses, campuses and mixed-use districts
Wikipedia describes Brookhaven Village as a town center with commercial, residential and office space, Town Brookhaven as a 600,000-square-foot mixed-use district, and Oglethorpe University and a Georgia State University satellite campus on or near Peachtree Road. If you manage a business, a building or a campus, see Commercial Pest Control, Apartment Pest Control or School Pest Control.

If you rent, tell your manager first; EPA says teamwork between residents, managers and pest professionals is what makes multi-family pest control work.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Do you serve Brookhaven even though it is in DeKalb County?
Yes. Pest Control Atlanta serves Brookhaven as part of metro Atlanta. Call (404) 647-6677 to confirm your address.
What should I check in a 1950s or 1960s house?
UGA lists crawlspaces, attics and wall voids as common harborage and says persistent moisture is the most important condition for many infestations. Check ventilation, drainage away from the foundation and gaps at utility lines. This is general guidance, not a finding about your house.
Is a pest problem in a Brookhaven apartment my manager's job or mine?
That depends on your lease, which we cannot advise on. EPA says effective pest control in multi-family housing needs the cooperation of all residents and teamwork with managers, so tell your manager and your neighbors and call us to describe the problem.
I live near Murphey Candler Park. What helps with mosquitoes?
CDC advises emptying and scrubbing, turning over, covering or throwing out water-holding items once a week to stop mosquitoes laying eggs in or near water. See Mosquito Control in Atlanta.
How much does pest control cost in Brookhaven?
We do not publish prices. Call, describe the property and the pest, and ask for a quote.
