Where Sandy Springs pest problems tend to come from

Sandy Springs became a city on December 1, 2005, and sits in northern Fulton County, with the Chattahoochee River forming its boundary with Cobb County. Wikipedia describes Perimeter Center as a commercial edge city whose office towers sit mostly on the Sandy Springs side, notes that Pill Hill holds Georgia's largest medical center, and says new mixed-use apartment developments are replacing older strip malls along Roswell Road. Its Riverside area is described as a high-income residential area with old-growth forest, and the city has sixteen parks and greenspaces covering more than 950 acres.

Apartments and condos

EPA says cockroaches, mice, rats and bed bugs can be particularly troublesome in multi-family housing, and that effective IPM there requires the cooperation of all residents. With about half of Sandy Springs homes in buildings of five or more units, that guidance applies to a large share of the city.

Homes near mature trees

UGA says the smokybrown cockroach is the most common roach in suburban Southern neighborhoods with mature hardwood trees, living in treeholes, attics, crawlspaces and sheds. Where a yard is wooded, expect to see more outdoor roaches than a bare lot would produce.

Offices and medical buildings

Perimeter Center and Pill Hill mean many Sandy Springs properties are commercial. See our office and hospital pest control pages if you manage one.

The pest notes above are general guidance drawn from EPA and UGA, not statements about any particular building or job.

How a visit works, and how to prepare

A Sandy Springs visit follows the same steps as anywhere we work: we inspect the property, treat the pests that are active, and deal with the entry points and conditions letting them in. Our service carries a “Satisfaction Guaranteed — Free Re-Treatment If Pests Return” guarantee.

If you rent or manage a unit

  • Tell your building manager or landlord you are calling, since EPA says responsible pest control in multi-family housing takes teamwork among residents, managers and pest professionals.
  • Note your unit and which rooms have activity, and whether neighbors have mentioned the same pest.
  • Clear access under sinks and along baseboards.

If you own a house

  • Note whether the activity is indoors, in the yard, or near mature trees.
  • Make the attic, crawl space and garage reachable.
  • Tell us about leaks, damp spots or standing water.

Do you serve apartments and condos?

Yes. We provide residential and commercial pest control, including for apartment communities. Call (404) 647-6677 and describe the building and the pest.

Why does a pest problem in one apartment often involve the neighbors?

EPA says effective IPM in a multi-family dwelling requires the cooperation of all residents, and that controlling pests there takes teamwork among residents, managers and pest professionals. Pests that live in shared walls and plumbing do not stop at a unit boundary, so it helps to tell your manager.

Do trees near my house change which pests I see?
