From Milton County seat to north Fulton city
Wikipedia says Alpharetta was chartered on December 11, 1858, and served as the county seat of Milton County until 1931, when Milton County merged with Fulton County. Johns Creek lies to the southeast, Roswell to the south and west, Milton to the north and unincorporated Forsyth County to the northeast. Avalon, an 86-acre mixed-use development, opened in 2014.
A newer house still needs sealing
UGA’s advice on how pests get in and where they settle applies to a house of any age (general guidance, not a finding about any home):
- Seal cracks, gaps and entryways, and check door sweeps, window screens and vent screening.
- Keep groundcovers at least 1.5 feet from foundation walls and limit mulch depth.
- Store birdseed in a tightly sealed container away from doors; UGA says spilled bird food can feed rodents.
- Keep outdoor garbage sealed and away from entrances.
- Fix persistent moisture, which UGA calls the most important condition for many infestations.
See Rodent Control, Ant Control and Termite Control.
Apartments, offices and mixed-use districts
One Alpharetta home in eight is in a building of 50 or more units. In shared buildings, EPA names cockroaches, mice, rats and bed bugs as especially troublesome, because they move between units; its housing guidance relies on every resident taking part. Building managers can start with Apartment Pest Control; offices, shops and restaurants with Office Pest Control, Restaurant Pest Control or Commercial Pest Control.
Parks, greenway and water in the yard
Wikipedia lists Wills Park, North Park, Webb Bridge Park and Cogburn Road Park, and the Big Creek Greenway path. Close to home, CDC says mosquitoes lay eggs in or near water and advises emptying and scrubbing, turning over, covering or throwing out water-holding items once a week. See Mosquito Control and Tick Control.
What we do in Alpharetta
Tell us what you are seeing and where. Roaches, spiders or ants inside point to the cockroach, spider or ant service; droppings or gnawing to rodent control; swarmers or mud tubes to termite control; bites in the bed to bed bug treatment; and biting insects in the yard to mosquito or tick service. If you cannot tell, book a pest inspection.
On every Alpharetta visit we inspect first, treat only the pests that are active, then close off how they are getting in. Our “Satisfaction Guaranteed — Free Re-Treatment If Pests Return” guarantee covers a return visit if they come back.
